Metadata development is the process of providing descriptions and contexts for data, and keeping the metadata up to date. Well-constructed, current metadata are needed to ensure data users, creators, and owners have a common understanding of the meaning and representation of their data. Good metadata clearly and accurately describe the data, what the data mean, and how they are collected.

Metadata developers are users who have access to METEOR's development tools, and can create, edit and review metadata items for their area. To be granted access as a developer, you need to have an account with us and undergo training. If you haven't done this yet, contact us to find out more.

If you've already done the METEOR training and have your account, this is the section for you. There is information here about how metadata standards are created and maintained, and about Registration Authorities for the various sectors. There is also help for you about how to create metadata, and a handy resources list.
