Reporting requirements: | Data Source Numerator: (a.1): 2010 report: ABS Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers (SDAC),2003 2011 report: ABS Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers (SDAC), 2009 2012 report: Monthly Population Survey Disability Topic (Indigenous): NATSISS, 2008. Data Source Demominator: (a.1): 2010 report: SDAC, 2003 2011 report: SDAC, 2009 2012 report: Monthly Population Survey Disability Topic (Indigenous):NATSISS, 2008. |
Organisation responsible for providing data: | Australian Bureau of Statistics. |
Benchmark: | Related NDA benchmark - Performance benchmark (a) An increase in the proportion of people with
disability in employment. |
Further data development / collection required: | ABS development of biennial MPS Disability Topic, due to start in 2011. This survey is intended to replace SDAC as the data source for the numerator and denominator. The ABS has limited NPP funding available to add a Disability Topic to the MPS for the purpose of collecting data for the NDA performance indicators. Funding is available for two cycles of the survey, which are expected to be run in the first half of 2011 and 2013. This is a household survey. Data will be available six months after the survey; therefore data from the 2011 survey are expected to be ready for reporting in November (for the third CRC report), after being run in April each year. As data from the planned Disability Topic would not be available until the third CRC report (data provided in November 2011, for reporting in March 2012), data from the SDAC will may be used for reporting in the interim. |
Other issues caveats: | Available disaggregation depends on sampling errors and other caveats. SDAC does not collect labour force participation information for persons in cared accommodation. Data are available for private dwelling and non-cared accommodation special dwellings only. 2011 report - 2009 SDAC is the latest available source for data about the labour force participation rate of people with disability. - 2009 SDAC does not provide this data for the Indigenous population, therefore Indigenous data needs to be taken from a different source (e.g. NATSISS 2008). - The NATSISS uses an abbreviated form of the the Disability Module, which is less detailed that the SDAC. - 'Not disabled' is a category in the 'Disability status' variable, so data comparable the disabled and non-disabled populations are available in the disaggregations listed above. |
