Computation description: | The National Health Survey (NHS) is a series of Australia-wide health surveys conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics designed to collect a range of information about the health of Australians, including the prevalence of self-reported type 2 diabetes. In the NHS, data on diabetes refers to persons who reported having been told by a doctor or nurse that they had diabetes, irrespective of whether the person considered their diabetes to be current or long-term. Excludes women with gestational diabetes. The data are reported for people aged 18 and over. Rates are directly age-standardised to the 2001 Australian population. Analysis by remoteness and Socio-Economic Indexes for Areas (SEIFA) Index of Relative Socio-Economic Disadvantage (IRSD) is based on usual residence of the person (based on data availability). Presented as a percentage. 95% confidence intervals and relative standard errors calculated for rates. |
